Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello World. It’s finally time for the long awaited Makeup Tutorial that I promised. I just got new Mermaid Makeup brushes from my sweet sister for Christmas & decided to take them for a test run… I opted for an “everyday” look for this one, if we like it, then maybe I’d consider doing a more glam look (aka what I plan on wearing for my 25th birthday this week!) Here we go!

To start, I brush on Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer in Radiance. {purchase here} I have a sample version that I got from an IPSY box & after one use I instantly fell in love. It makes my makeup stay on longer while also protecting & hydrating my skin in the process.

Next, I apply my Milani Conceal Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation with a flat foundation brush. {purchase here} I have three different shades that I use based on what time of year it is aka how great my tan is. Right now, I’m at my in-between stage so I’m using shade 03 – Light Beige. This foundation was a god send… It works great with my combination oily/dry skin & gives my face perfect full coverage, which it what I love. It stays on all day, even if you don’t pair it with setting powder or spray. I will forever worship Milani for this foundation.

After applying foundation, I move to concealer. I apply Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Concealer in Fair Clair {purchase here} with the applicator brush given in a triangle pattern under my eye, a line on my nose, a triangle on my chin & finally on my forehead. I then use my Real Techniques Blending Sponge {purchase here} to blend the concealer into my face. I run it under my faucet to dampen it & expand it, I find that it blends better & more even that way.

Next, I use that same damp blender to dip into my Maybelline New York Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder {purchase here}  & pat it on the same areas I just applied concealer. I leave it there while I start my eye makeup – which is always the exact moment my husband walks into the bathroom & gives me the strangest looks… I love this setting powder because it’s incredibly light but also does its job so well.

Now I move my focus onto my eye makeup while letting the setting powder work its magic. For my eyebrows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brown Pomade in Taupe. {Purchase here} I use either my accent brush from Real Techniques or an angled one to brush on the pomade in diagonal strokes in order to fill in my brow. I love this product because it fills in & also keeps my brows in place.

After filling in my brows, I use Essence’s I ❤ Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base {Purchase here} on my eyelid to prime & hold the color I’m about to brush on. I got this as another sample from an IPSY box & I’ll never ever go back. *At this point in time for sake of not distracting ya’ll, I blended in my setting powder with a large foundation brush… normally I would wait longer until my eyes were complete*

Eye shadow time! Recently, I purchased Urban Decay’s Naked 2 Basics pallet & fell in love. {Purchase here} While it’s small, it has anything you could need in the terms of neutral colors on the go. I use Skimp on my lid with a base eyeshadow brush, then Frisk with an angled eyeshadow brush on my crease & finally Cover with a circular blending brush on the corner of my eyelid & crease. I blend these together for a subtle smokey eye. If I wanted to amp up the glam or drama, I could use the darker colors in the pallet & keep blending them together to make it smokier.

Next I move to eyeliner. Recently I discovered Ciate London’s Fierce Flicks Precision Tip Liquid Liner in Black again from an IPSY box {Purchase here}. Best, thinnest, liquid eyeliner I’ve ever used. I’m able to get a thin line across the top of my lid with the easiest of precision. It’s long lasting & lightweight. I’ll never go back.

After eyeliner, I put on Urban Decay Perversion Mascara in Black. I got this as a sample from Ulta when I purchased my Naked 2 Pallet & wow. What a steal. {Purchase here} When I run out, I’ll definitely buy the full size version in a heart beat. It makes my lashes bolder & bigger without making them feel heavy & weighed down. Win. Win. Again, long lasting & gives my lashes a boost without having to apply false lashes.

Next, CONTOUR TIME!! This is by far my favorite part of doing my makeup… Bronzer is life. My poison of choice is Benefit Cosmetic’s HOOLA Matte Bronzer {Purchase here}. This purchase was life changing. The color formula matches my skin whether I’m tan, pale or anywhere in-between… I apply this product by using the included brush at an angle on my cheek bones. I then blend it in with my angled face brush to create a shadow on my face.

After using bronzer, I move to Blush. My newest find is Model Co Blush in Peach Bellini & again, completely obsessed. {Purchase here} It’s the right color for my skin while also giving the slightest shimmer to my cheeks. I apply it with my blush brush on my cheek bones just above where I apply the bronzer. This helps blend the two products together while also accentuating the cheek area.

Now comes the Highlight part! Aka the beautiful glazed donut transformation… Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop – you’re my one & only. {Purchase here} I wrote an entire blog post professing my love for this product, but in short: It’s fantastic & worth a buy. I apply it with my fan brush across my upper cheek bones to finish that shine & boost my fabulousness.

To finish up all my hard work, I use Urban Decay’s Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray in De-Slick. I lightly spritz it all over my face, focusing mainly on my T-Zone – where I typically get oily first. {Purchase here} I find that after using this, my makeup lasts longer throughout the whole day & night, while also keeping it feeling light. Caked on makeup makes my skin worse, but it’s been significantly clearer after utilizing this product.

Finally I finished off my everyday makeup look with Milani’s Color Statement Lipstick in Nude Creme. {Purchase here} Favorite lipstick by far… it’s lightweight & long lasting with the best color choices. It’s my go to for sure.

So there you have it. My everyday makeup routine & where to purchase all the products from. I hope you made it to the end & enjoyed my take on how I apply makeup. I’m still learning everyday on what techniques work best for my face & skin… But I think, personally, I’m off to a great start. Below you can see my before & after. Pretty proud of how fabulous I clearly am with or without makeup… regardless, I’m unapologetically me; a weirdo who loves making faces while trying to be serious.

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you own any of these products & agree with me… OR if theres some you own & SWEAR BY, I need to know! I wanna try. Okay? x -A
